Leeds Uni 1st/2nds 16-24 Northumbria Ninjawolves
A great second half fightback from the ninjawolves ensured
that their 100% record remained intact in a match which they were lucky to win, Northumbria started in great style and scored
before leeds had a touch of the ball. A high bomb from Jardine (which came back down with snow on it) puzzled the leeds defence
and a cruel bounce along with excellent pressure from Tom Lunn brought about the 1st try, this was converted by jardine to
make it 6-0, then northumbria went off the boil a little and allowed leeds to score 3 unconverted tries to make half time
12-6 to the yorkshire outfit. A good half time team talk from coach walton fired the lads up, but the fire didnt last long
as leeds scored again, a grubber kick into the in goal was poorly dealt with by normally reliable higgins and the leeds man
got the touch down to make it 16-6, Northumbria then decided to play, they scored mid way through the second half when harveys
grubber was pounced on by douglas to score, kick converted to make it 16-12. Referee stevie wonder then decided to send MC
Harvey (along with a leeds lad) to the sinbin for ungentlemanly pulling of an opponents shirt. Things looked bad at this point
but then northumbria took the lead again after excellent work from Crosby who offloaded to Jardine to score, kick converted,
18-16, Northumbria then wrapped up the game after arguably the best try of the game when the excellent vision of Jardine picked
out a pass to Jamie Gouldstone to wrap up the game, 24-16, job done. Good performances came from Crosby, Lumb, Jardine and
the reliable Baker. The ninjawolves then had a good drinking sesh on the way home, thats a wrap, adios amigos.

8-18 Northumbria Ninjawolves RL
A large crowd gathered at the wind swept Cochrane park for the 15th
annual Newcastle-Northumbria rugby league varsity match. Northumbria, still smarting from last years defeat started the stronger
of the two sides, penalising an error from there own kick off, pinning Newcastle in there own 20m for the first 15 minutes
of the game. Newcastle responded with a strong defence putting in some bone-shaking challenges,
keeping Northumbria at bay. Then came
a piece of individual magic from Ninjawolves captain Bahadori. The hooker dummied both ways before powering through two tacklers
to score under the posts. A moment of madness followed as Paul Wood was red-carded for striking, leaving the struggling Newcastle
down to 12 men with only a third of the game played. Shortly after, Jardine added to his earlier conversion with an excellent
penalty kick against the wind from just inside the Newcastle
half, taking the score to 8-0 to the visitors. The second half began with a flurry as Newcastle
came out all guns blazing. Strong defensive work from Bradley and Metcalfe kept Newcastle
at bay until the third consecutive set, when Liam Clarke found space out wide to score in the corner. Conceding there first
try in 160 minutes of rugby put the hunger back into Northumbria.
Strong running and quick hands across the line led to an excellent team try scored by Crosby
to the right of the sticks. Again Newcastle refused to lay
down, coming back with a try almost identical to the first, with Clarke again scoring in the corner. This was the last piece
of action Newcastle had, as Northumbria
increased the pace and camped in the Newcastle half. sustained
pressure led to man-of-the-match Metcalfe powering over from close range, Jardine again converting to take the final score
to 18-8 to the undefeated Ninjawolves.

DICK OF THE DAY- The whole of the Newcastle Team,
Northumbria University 30-0 Durham University
In arguably Northumbria's toughest game of the season so far and with a few players missing, Northumbria
came out victors thanks to a determined team effort. In a game with tough opening exchanges the first points never
came until midway through the first half, when a jinky run from Jardine found the supporting Bahadori to crash over for the
first try, Bahadori then dummied his way over a few sets later to further the lead, both tries converted by Jardine, the first
half however was marred by an injury to stand off Rob Harvey who had to withdraw from the game. Durham began the second half
in determined fashion but the ruthless ninjawolves held them off and began to stretch the lead further with tries from Baker,
Robson and Douglas, this put the game beyond Durhams reach and the game finished 30-0 to extend the Ninjawolves unbeaten run.
Special praise came out of this game for Crosby and Wood, who both excelled when playing out of position. Next
week sees the biggest game of the season when northumbria visit newcastle in the annual stan calvert cup, northumbria will
hope that injury victims Harvey, Higgins and Bradley will be able to play giving northumbria the luxury of a full strength
team for what is a game where nothing less than a win is expected.

Northumbria University 56-0 York Tigers
Tigers Tamed
York Tigers arrived 5 minutes late and, to there credit, agreed to play the unbeaten Ninjawolves after a
very quick warm up. York must have wished they would have stayed on the bus as the ninjawolves started rampantly, running
in three quick tries. This seemed to rouse the Tigers and tackles came in hard and fast from both sides as the Ninjawolves
pack came up against arguably the strenest pack this season. The ninjawolves held firm and eventually got back on top with
strong running from Robson, Housley, crosby and Bradley. With wingers Johnston (illness) and Douglas (injury) missing and
full back Higgins leaving the action after 15 mins, people started suggesting the ninjawolves would be vulnerable out wide.
Far from it. Debutant Gouldstone tackled way above his weight and ran in an 80m try, capping a man of the match performance. 'Hit
and spin' Mathers also showed what he was capable of when introduced late in the second half. With players returning from
injury in the coming weeks, captain Bahadori will have a massive selection headache.

Nothumbria show Pure Class!
Nortumbria Ninjawolves showed exactly why they are top of the league and unbeaten all season in this masterclass
of rugby league. From the off the Newcastle side were battered into submission from the hard-hitting, hard tackling go all
day Northumbria forwards. Newcastle had no option but to continuosly kick on the 4th to try and relieve the pressure.
But this had the opposite effect as Northumbria back 3 held firm up until the final minutes of the game where Newcastle scored
from a high-kick/lucky bounce. Notable performances came from Jardine who converted 100% of Northumbrias tries, Higgins who
dealt with every kick through impeccably and the returning Walton who hit the right lines all day long and weiged in with
a well deserved hat-trick.

Debutant steals the show.
In a match where Northumbria fielded a number of fringe players, one in particular stole the show. Debutant
Tom Robson, in his first ever game of RL battered the opposition in defence and weighed in with 2 individual tries in attack.
Also on his first start for the ninjawolves Tyson 'Date Rape' Douglas showed he has the quality to finish tries at this level
by scoring a superb hat-rick. In a less than perfect performance from the ninjawolves further tries came from the consistent
Baker and Jam Higgins, with a third debutant, Jamie Gouldstone completing the days scoring with a try that started from the
ninjawolves own in goal area. Jardine and Bradley added the extras with 6 and 1 goals respectively, an improved performance
is needed next week when the ninjawolves go to the posh side of town and play the reserves of newcastle at close house.

Northumbria Univeristy 28 - 26 Napier Univeristy The
ninjawolves got there season off to a flyer with a gritty performance against a determined Napier side. Last years champions
new from the off they werent going to have it there way when a tap 20 resulted in fresher Metcalfe bursting the line and rampaging
down the field. As the fullback approached, Metcalfe showed his NL3 qualities by timing the pass to the supporting Matty Walton
to perfection. Napier hit back, however, and a dubious decision from the referee awarded Barry Earl a try just left of the
sticks, which looked to all to be a double movement/knock on. This spurred Napier on and a high kick on the 5th caused confusion
in the in goal area, which napier took full advantage of to take the lead. Jardine then added 2 points from a penalty from
under the sticks which were the first of his tally of ten for the day. The match then descended into a see-saw battle with
each side trading blows. The pick of the tries coming from Simon Baker who outpaced his opposite center before stepping the
fullback and scoring under the posts to complete an 80 yard try which impressed all on the sidelines. The knockout punch came
from the Ninjawolves. With 4 minutes remaining, Napier were 4 ahead and waiting to recieve the kickoff. Jardine put it high
and the stringy Walton used those delicate ankles to leap like a salmon and knock the ball down to the supporting Lunn. A
simple set resulted in man-of-the-match Higgins scoring to the right of the posts, with Jardine holding his nerve to slot
the conversion through the center of the posts to win the game for Northumbria.
